Subconscious

Something weird happened. What else is new?

I was in front of my computer watching Final Fantasy 8 walk-throughs on YouTube. Then I guess I passed out and was on a ship sailing in the ocean.

It was beautiful. Until it showed up. This giant man made of black fire, towering over me. I didn't know what it was until I saw its eyes. They were yellow with slit pupils.

"HELLFIRE?" I gasped.
"Good to see you, Daniel," It said.
"What's going on?" I demanded. "Where am I?"
"W are inside your subconscious," It said. "I've brought you here to talk."
"About what?" I asked.
"I need you for something," It said. "The Gods of Darkness will soon be going to war, and I could have use for someone like you."
"I don't like being used," I said stubbornly.
"Do you think you have a choice?" It asked. It then launched itself at me.

Then Justin showed up and slashed HELLFIRE in half with a scythe. HELLFIRE reformed almost immediately.

"Hmph, fine," It hissed. "This isn't over, God-Slayer." Then he vanished.
"Justin?" I asked. "Is that really you?"
"Yeah," he said. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"It's a long story," he said. "That gang I joined called themselves Timberwolves. They told me a bunch of stuff about the Archangel. I didn't believe it at first. But then there was that gang fight. I got shot a bunch of times and started bleeding to death. Then he appeared."
"The Archangel?"
"Yeah," he said. "He said to embrace him, and next thing I know, I'm inside of him. To be perfectly honest, I think I prefer being inside of you."
"I prefer not having other guys inside me," I replied.
"Heh, of course," he said. "I don't know what happened or why I'm inside you instead of him, but I have a feeling the answer is somewhere in this ship. Problem is, I'm stuck up here. The door that leads bellow deck is locked to me."
"Any idea how to open it?" I asked.
"It's your subconscious," He said. "You could probably open it."

He led me to the door, and I managed to get it open. He's gonna search the ship and see if he can find anything out. And then I woke up in front of my computer. I really have no ida what the f@&k is going on anymore. Wait, why did I censor myself?

Chaos

Okay, I saw that post that Malkator made on my blog. I can't get a hold of Tsu right now, so I decided Malkator was the only person who was willing to give some helpful advice.

I called up Tony to tell him.

DF; Tony? You there?
TH; Yeah man.
DF; Sorry for the wait. Tsu hasn't been answering.
TH; It's only been like, five minutes dude.
DF; What? It's been two days.
TH; That's weird.
DF; Anyway, you remember that Malkator guy?
TH; Yeah, why?
DF; He left a comment on my blog the other day.
TH; What'd he say?
DF; He said you're in the Crossroads of Trials. Each of those paths is supposed to have some sort of trial you're supposed to overcome.
TH; So which one should I take?
DF; According to Malkator, the safest route is probable conf-
TH; Hold up a second, I see someone.
DF; What?
TH; Yeah, there's someone there down one of the paths.
DF; Listen dude, stay where you are and-
TH; Oh, shit.
DF; What is it?
TH; I took a couple steps toward the guy and I looked back real quick and now the other paths are gone!
DF; What?
TH; It's just a straight road now.
DF; Is the guy still there?
TH; I don't see him.
DF; Which path are you on?
TH; Chaos.
DF; Shit. I guess you have to keep going that way then. If you find anything- anything at all- you call me immediately. Okay?
TH; Okay.

I don't know what the hell is going on, but I'm gonna make Jack pay for trapping Tony there.

Countryside

I got a call from an unfamiliar number today. I answered. It was Tony.

TH; Dan? Dan, are you there?
DF: Yeah. Where are you? Are you okay?
TH; I'm not sure where I am. It's some kind of dirt road on the countryside.
DF; How did you get there?
TH; I ran into that contact of yours while I was in the city.
DF; Jack?
TH; Yeah. He was there. He said he could get me out of the city. I agreed, and next thing I know I'm here in this weird place with a cell phone that I don't remember having before.
DF; Did he specify where you would go once he got you out?
TH; No, he didn't. I'm not sure what to do now.
DF; Just keep moving. You might be able to find some one who can help.
TH; Okay. I'll call you back if I find anything.

3 hours later he called me again.

TH; Hey, I'm at a cross road. I don't know which way to go.
DF; Are there any signs?
TH; Yeah. Four of them. One for each direction.
DF; What do they say?
TH; This one says "Pain". Then this other one over here says "Grief".
DF; And the others?
TH; There's one that says "Confusion".
DF; What about the last one.
TH: It says... it says "Chaos".
DF; Chaos?
TH; Yeah. I'm not sure which path to take. They all sound pretty bad.
DF; Don't go anywhere yet. I'm gonna get in touch with Tsu, see if he can tell me anything. I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Don't do anything until then, okay?
TH; Alright. Hurry.

I haven't gotten in touch with Tsu yet. He's not answering. If any of you guys know what to do, please let me know. In the meantime, I'm gonna look for Jack. If I find him, I'll teach him what happens when you mess with my friends.

Warning

I met up with Estren as planned. He had a cast on one arm and his eyes seemed normal.

"I'm glad you could meet me," He said.
"So what did you want exactly?" I said.
"I need to warn you about something," he said. "You're not normal."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You think your victories so far have been dumb luck?" He asked. "No. You're special. And the Fears aren't too happy about that."
"How am I special?" I asked.
"I don't know," he replied. "HELLFIRE hasn't told me everything."
"Well, why don't you tell him he's being a secretive asshole?" I asked. His eyes went weird for a second and he smacked me across the face. "Ouch! What was that for!?"
"Sorry!" Estren said. "That was HELLFIRE! He doesn't like swearing."
"And yet he finds it necessary to slap someone in the middle of a public store?" I asked.
"I try not to question his logic because I usually can't understand it," He said.
"So what's with the Fears?" I asked. "Why do they hate me so much?"
"Well, I'm sure you can guess why the Archangel and Wooden Girl hate you, but the others just seem to be trying to get rid of a potential threat," He said. "The Plague Doctor and Blind Man seem to have differing opinions though. They seem to be on your side. I'm not sure why."
"Well, what do you know?" I asked.
"I know that you're in danger," He said. "You need to be careful."
"You're gonna tell me to run away like Tsu did, are you?" I asked.
"Of course not," He said. "You're not the kind of person who would flee from his fears. I'm just suggesting that you watch your back."
"I will," I said.
"Also, You should know that you're not alone," He said. "An old friend of mine will be in town soon. He'll be able to help."

And then he vanished. Why does every one keep vanishing?

Well, I'm gonna try to contact Tony. Later.

HELLFIRE and Estren

This is Daniel. I've been trying to keep in touch with Tony, but he's not responding to my phone calls or e-mails. I did get a call from someone though. Here's a transcript of it.

DF; Hello?
?; Is this Daniel?
DF; Yeah, who's this?
?: My name is Estren. There's something I need to discuss with you.
DF; And what would that be?
E; It's about the Fears you moron!
Something happened with his voice when he said that. He sounded more sinister than before. I immediately realized I had heard that voice before.
DF; HELLFIRE?
E; I'm sorry, he took control for a second there.
DF; What?
E; HELLFIRE is my other half.
DF; I don't understand.
E; Ask that Tsu character about the Dying Man. Any way, we need to meet up.
DF; Where?
E; The sports section of Wal Mart. The Fears will be less likely to disturb us there. Does two o'clock tomorrow sound good?
DF; Fine.

That was the end of it. I still have Kyle's knife. He let me keep it after it was stabbed into my thigh. I'm taking it with me, because The sword would be way too noticeable if I brought it into a Wal Mart.

I called Tsu. He says that the Dying Man is sort of like a type of possessive spirits that can take over a person's body. There's apparently a bunch of them. This HELLFIRE must be one of them.

I'm hearing his voice again. Justin's trying to tell me something. I wish I knew what he was trying to say.

Still Trapped Here

This is Tony again. I'm still in this weird city, and I swear to God it's changing. I have my laptop, but I don't know how it's connected to the internet. I'm lost and confused and don't understand any of this shit. I have to try and stay calm. I'm an aspiring detective. I have to look into this and try to find answers. I just wish I wasn't on my own here.

I think I see someone in the distance. I'm gonna investigate. Quietly. I don't know who they are, and 'd rather not draw attention from anyone who would wanna hurt me.

This is Tony and I have no clue where I am now. I don't fucking recognize this city.

I guess I'll try to explain things a little better. After I saw that faceless thing in video, I started looking around more, trying to figure out what was going on. About a week and a half went by without finding anything. Then I saw Her. She just showed up in my garage. She stared me in the eyes, and I saw this vision. I don't have time to explain what I saw right now. Anyway, she vanished, so I decided to try drawing her in my sketchbook for evidence. My artwork isn't that great, but I think I did a decent job. After I finished,. this woman made of wood attacked me. The picture got crumpled up while I was struggling and I lost it. I was knocked out at some point. I woke up a few days later with Daniel dragging me home. So after that I started doing even more investigation. Then this big door appeared in my Garage. Thinking I might find some answers on the other side, I opened it. And now I'm here. In this weird city. I need to find a way out.

So Fucking Many Of Them

I got a call today. I didn't recognize the voice. He just told me to come to the park. So I packed up my sword and went there. The man waiting there for me was pretty tall and was wearing a black hoody.

"Hello, Daniel," He said. "My name is Andy Warhol of the SMSC," He said. "I've heard of some of the things you've been going through, and I think I can help."
"How so?" I asked.
"The SMSC is an organization formed to combat the Fears," He said. "I read about your fight with the Archangel, and I think you could prove to be a valuable asset to us. How would you feel about joining us?"

I hesitated. I just met this guy, and I didn't know what all the SMSC was about.

"I'd like to know more about this organization before I join," I said.
"Very well," He said. "But we can't talk here. It's too public."
"Where would work better?" I asked.
"We have a small base set up a couple miles," he said. "Follow me."
"He started walking away and I started following, but I didn't make it five feet before that masked guy from before appeared between us, facing me.
"Are you really that stupid?" He asked me. "This is clearly a trap."
"Who are you!?" demanded the SMSC agent. The masked man turned to face him. "That mask... You're one of the Game Master's cards, aren't you?"
"Oh, don't act like you don't recognize me," he said. He removed his mask and stared straight into the man's eyes.
"HELLFIRE," the man said bitterly. "I thought I got rid of you ten years ago."
"I hitched a ride on a demigod," replied. Then he turned to look at me, and I saw that his eyes were sickly yellow with slit-like pupils. "I know you're going to talk about this on that silly little blog of yours, but when you do, make sure you write my name in all-caps."
A pretty weird request, but whatever.
"I guess I'll just have to kill you both," the man said.
Then he was surrounded by black smoke and I said "FUCK! Not this guy again!"
He was about to attack, but then Wood Bitch appeared between us, accompanied by Akihiko.
"I'm sorry, Archie, but he's mine," She said. "Samurai, chop off that mother fucker's legs."
Akihiko was about to charge at me, but the Thorned Prince appeared there and parried his sword slash with a really huge thorn.

Then they all showed up.

An old man with dark glasses appeared next to me. It was the same man who left the sword at my house.

On my other side was Jack. Have you ever played Final Fantasy 10? You know those glyphs that show up on the walls in the different dungeons and temples? He had something like that surrounding his hand.

Behind Ren was a cloaked man, wearing a beaked mask. I've seen those masks in text books, and I knew at once that it was the Plague Doctor. As soon as I saw him, I wanted to rip my skin off and scrub my internal organs navy style.

Across from us, next to Archie and Wood Bitch, was the Faceless Entity. Tentacles sprouted from it's back and started waving viciously in the air.

And then I heard the singing. The Cold Boy appeared. He seemed to start as a block of ice hovering in the air, slowly growing in the air and taking the form of a child. He grinned at me.

Speaking of grins, the next guy had one that was waaaaaaaaaaaay too big. And he had the scariest eyes. I can't even describe the evil and malice that I saw in them.

A full minute of silence passed. Then, out of no where, they began fighting each other with such ferocity that Genghis Khan would has pissed himself.

I drew my sword and defended myself. I wasn't fighting to win. I was fighting to stay alive. I'm not ashamed to say that I was scared. These this- these eldritch mother fuckers- they were the embodiments of fear itself. I honestly thought I would die.

But that didn't happen.

Ren saved me. He saw I was in trouble and opened up a portal to the black forest and shoved me through.

Before it closed, I heard him say "You're too important. You can't die here."

Why? What am I important for?

I looked around for a while. This forest was weird. All the leaves were black and the trees all looked like they were about to come alive and strangle me to death at any minute. Still, it was better than that huge war between the Fears.

Then I was attacked by monsters. These hideous feral beasts started pouncing at me. I killed as many as I could, but I was severely outnumbered.

But she saved me. The transparent clawed woman who I saw when I was talking to Jack. She did some kind of telekinetic thingamajig to them and then cut them up.

"Thanks, ma'am," I said nervously. I have trouble talking to girls. Especially cute ones. And by the Gods, she was gorgeous. I think my shyness might be why I'm still a virgin. Or maybe it's just because I'm too lazy to interact with people. One or the other.
"There is something you must see," She said.

I apologize for making so many comparisons to Square Enix games, but have you played Kingdom Hearts 2? Do you remember those Dark Corridors that Organization 13 used? Well, she opened something like that, only it was cyan instead of black, and it sparkled.

I stepped through and found myself in another weird world. The sky kept changing color, and there were a bunch of little streams every where. I touched the glowing liquid trickling down on of them, and I saw a bunch of... stuff. I couldn't make sense of most of it. I saw a pirate fighting Akihiko, some one with an Iron Man like suit and swinging kamasugari around, and I think I saw the smiling dude with the weird eyes killing someone with a cloud of flower petals.

There was one seen that really stuck in my mind though. I saw myself. A twisted version of me. I was just like what Tony described in his dream. I had pale skin. No tans, no freckles, just completely pale. Except for the eyelids. My eyelids were pitch black. My hair was dark black instead of brown, and it was grey in places. It was also really fucking long.

That's about when the visions ended.

"What was all that?" I asked.
"I don't have enough time left to explain everything," She said. Her body was fading as she spoke. "You must find the answers on your own." She vanished, and a portal appeared where she had been standing.

I stepped through it and found myself at the church where I fought Archie before. I was about to head home, but I saw something on the ground. It was a small silver figure of a man, barely bigger than the palm of my hand. I picked it up. I don't know why. It's like I was drawn to it.

I'm home now. I don't know how that fight at the park ended. I kind of hope the Fears all killed each other, but I bet they're all still alive. I don't know. I need sleep.

Jack Of All

I was leaving my house this morning to go look for Jack, and as I opened the door, I saw the Thorned Prince standing there waiting for me.

"You wanted to see me?" He asked.
"How did you-" I began, but he interrupted me.
"I read your blog post last night," He explained. "That's how I knew you'd want to see me. And I got your address from the dietitian."
"Whatever happened to doctor-patient confidentiality?" I asked. "Isn't it illegal to give away a patients information?"
"The Oathbreakers don't always follow the law," He said.
"Oathbreakers?" I asked.
"Servants to the Plague Doctor," He explained. "He's one of the Fears you loath so much."
"How exactly do you know the Oathbreaker?" I asked. "Are you the reason he's been leaving me alone?"
"I convinced him to leave you alone, yes," He said. "I don't know how long he'll keep his word, though. They are called 'Oathbreakers' after all."
"So how do you know him exactly?" I asked.
"It's complicated," He said.
"Are you an Oathbreaker too?" I inquired.
"No," He said. "But I won't deny that I am one of the Doctor's servants."
"Why would you serve one of them?" I demanded.
He showed me his wooden arm. "He helped me when I needed it," He said. "He saved my life and gave me the strength I needed to battle the demon in my life."
"'The demon in your life'?" I asked.
"The same one who torments you and your friend Tony," He said.
"The faceless entity?" I asked.
"Yes," He confirmed. "You seek my help in fighting him just as I seek yours."
"Why do you want my help?" I asked. You know, looking back, I asked a lot of questions during this conversation.
"You fought and won against the Archangel in one of it's strongest bodies," He said. "You bested a samurai with 300 years worth of combat experience in a sword fight. You literally pounded the 'Wood Bitch', as you call her, into the ground. You have a lot of potential. You and I could make a good team together."
"I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable working with an eldritch servant," I said nervously.
"I'm not demanded an answer right away," He said calmly. "Just give it some thought. I'll speak to you again soon." He then vanished through a portal.

I turned to go back inside and saw that Jack was there leaning against the door frame.

"What a shame," He said. "I was hoping you would come visit me. But It wasn't too much trouble to visit you instead."
"How did you know where I lived?" I asked.
"I have my ways," He said. "Anyway, I know about your little problem with the Slender Man, and I can give you help."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I can't give you the power to kill a Fear," He said. "I can, however, give you what you need to teach it a lesson. All you need to do is make a deal with me."
"What would it cost me?" I asked hesitantly.
"Nothing much, just a few favors later down the road," He said. "So, what's it gonna be?"

He reached his sun-burnt hand toward me, offering to shake mine as a deal closer. I looked past him, and saw her. The lady in Tony's sketch. Only she was real. I think. She was see-through and glittery. I'm not sure if Jack noticed her. She shook her head and I heard a voice in my head saying Those you make bargains with Jack Of All always find themselves suffering.

"I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I'd rather not," I said to him.
"Very well," He said. "Just remember that my offer still stands. If you decide to change your mind, I'm always willing to make a deal."

And then he vanished.

I think my informant isn't human. There's also something that The Thorned Prince said to me. "You fought and won against the Archangel using one of it's strongest bodies."

"One of"

That implies that it has more. And some of them are stronger.

Ffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkk

Haven't Seen Him Yet

The Entity hasn't appeared outside my window since I saw that footage. Fine. If he doesn't want to come here, then I'll find him. But how? I have one idea.

The Thorned Prince. He's not my enemy. At least, I don't think he is. He might be able to help me. I'm sure he'll be easier to find than the Entity. My informant should be able to help there.

Who's my informant, you ask? His name is Jack. He's the one who gave me the tip about where I could find that missing child a while back. He's a smart guy who always seems to have a really bad sunburn on one of his hands, and seems to know almost everyone in town. He never fails to surprise me with the amount of information he has at his disposal. He's usually the guy I go to when I'm out of options.

He hangs out behind Ralphs sometimes. I go there tomorrow to see if I can find him. He'll probably have some idea where I can find the Thorned Prince.

Also, the dietitian stopped calling me. I guess he gave up. I don't know. I'll update when I can. Bye.

Footage

Tony doesn't want to talk about what happened to him after he was taken by Wood Bitch (that's what I've decided to call her) and I can't blame him. He's got a bunch of injuries and it is not pretty. He also says it hurts to sit down. Not even gonna ask about that.

On the bright side, He showed me the footage, which I uploaded to YouTube earlier. Here it is. It looks like he was just trying to film an ordinary vlog, but at about a minute in, guess who fucking shows up? That faceless freak. He's a little hard to make out, but if you focus hard enough you can see him behind the minivan.

He's the reason Tony's been sick lately. This pisses me the fuck off. The next time he decides to show his lack of face in front of me, he's gonna have to answer to the pointy end of my flaming sword.
